SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), which operates the Las Vegas Convention Center, is committed to sustainable strategies that create superior customer experiences.

Together with its resort partners’ business operations, the LVCVA is committed to minimizing waste and conserving natural resources.


ENERGY

SOLAR

Several major casino resort companies have developed off-site solar arrays. MGM Resorts International’s mega solar array’s clean energy program produces up to 90% of its daytime power needs.

Newly opened Fontainebleau is expected to achieve 20.1% energy savings compared to the baseline energy code.


RENEWABLE RESOURCES

CARBON NEUTRAL

The Las Vegas Monorail elevates mobility along the Las Vegas Strip, carrying over 5 million riders annually, eliminating 27 tons of emissions and more than 2.1 million vehicle miles with its autonomous, zero-emissions trains.

VEGAS LOOP

Electric vehicles zip through Vegas Loop tunnels beneath the LVCC, creating zero emissions and zero additional surface congestion, and redefining transit with a sustainable alternative to traditional transportation. 


WATER

RECYCLED WATER

All indoor water use is reclaimed and recycled back to Lake Mead.

At The Palazzo Resort, approximately 25 million gallons of groundwater are recycled and used for irrigation, street cleaners and cooling towers, reducing the resort’s reliance on municipal water.

WATER CONSERVATION

Resorts use low-flow fixtures, shower heads and sink aerators, leading to a 58% decline in water use per capita from 2002-2023.

Boyd Gaming has saved nearly 2 billion gallons of water nationwide from water conservation efforts since 2017, including investments in greener processes at the company’s linen and uniform facility, the first LEED Silver-certified industrial laundry in the U.S.


RECYCLING

 

WASTE DIVERSION

Resorts have around-the-clock recycling docks where waste is sorted and diverted from landfills.

Caesars Entertainment is committed to diverting 65% of all waste generated at its properties from landfills by 2030. In 2022, Caesars diverted 59% of total waste generated.

The Venetian Resort diverts more than 20,000 pounds of food and material waste from the landfill every month through repurposing and community donations.

GETTING INVOLVED

Caesars Entertainment’s CodeGreen program encourages its workforce to get involved in events such as recycling drives, park and street cleanups.

CLIMATE ACTION PLAN

Our comprehensive Climate Action Plan outlines our ambitious mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) by 50% by 2030, and by 100% by 2050. In partnership with our valued tradeshow organizers, we will create a sustainable legacy and inspire positive change in Southern Nevada and beyond.
